Brandon Sklenar Responds To Nova and Batman Rumors

Brandon Sklenar is one of the hot young stars that Marvel is said to be looking at to play Nova in the Disney+ series. The 34-year-old is also a fan-favorite to play Batman in James Gunn’s DCU.

A rumor surfaced last month that Brandon Sklenar had taken a meeting with Marvel, and that Marvel likes the actor. It was said to keep an eye on Brandon Sklenar as a potential to play Richard Rider Nova in the MCU.

Brandon Sklenar Responds to Nova

The Playlist caught up with Brandon Sklenar and asked about the Nova rumors.

“Yeah, I heard about that. It was news to me,” responded Sklenar.

He continued offering in what sounds as if he hasn’t met with Marvel just yet but plans on it.

“I think I was supposed to meet with [Marvel Studios/Marvel Television] at some point here…with [Kevin] Feige. We’ll see, that would be cool,” said Sklenar.

Brad Winderbaum, the head of Marvel’s Streaming, Television, and Animation, recently described the series as: “The Nova being developed right now is an amazing ensemble piece. It’s got shades of Trek, shades of Battlestar, but also feels like if you know those comics, you know how heated Richard Rider’s world can get, and it certainly embraces it.”

Responds to Batman

Regarding Batman, James Gunn is supposed to be going with a new Dark Knight for the DCU. Andy Muschietti is supposed to be directing Brave and the Bold. Sklenar addressed Batman.

“I’ve seen a bunch of fan-casting for this Batman thing and that’s very interesting to me, I love Batman,” he said. “That would be a dream, for sure. But we’ll see what happens, I’m built for it.

Sklenar added about potentially playing either role, “It would have to be the right thing at the right time.”

About Brave and the Bold

Gunn’s most recent update about Brave and the Bold is that it isn’t ready as apparently Gunn isn’t happy with the script. There is also doubt the flick might happen as rumors claim Gunn wants Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson’s Batman to be in the DCU. The official description for Brave and the Bold says the DCU will introduce its Batman and Robin (Damian Wayne) in this unusual father-son story inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic series.

Brandon Sklenar is known for playing  Spencer Duttons in Taylor Sheridan’s 1923. According to IMDB, he’s filming The Housemaid, and has The Rescue in the works along with the big Lionsgate earthquake movie, After Shock.
