Large gap between Critics and Audience Scores for Dwayne Johnson movies
Comparing the Black Adam 47% Audience Score to other Dwayne Johnson movies has the score in line with Skyscraper (48%), Rampage (51%), and San Andreas (48%).
It should also be said there is a large gap between the critics score and audience scores for the Dwayne Johnson movies as, for example, the critics give Red Notice a 36%, while fans give it a 92%. That’s huge, so hopefully fans like Black Adam.
Jungle Cruise also has a critics score of 63% but an audience score of 92%.
Jumanji: The Next Level has a critics score of 71% and an audience score of 87%.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is at 68% to 88%.
Skyscraper‘s audience score is at 68%; Rampage at 72%; San Andreas at 52%.
Another Dwayne Johnson movie that has a big gap between the critics and audience is Baywatch with a critics score of 17% to an audience score of 62%.
Again, while the critics might not be big on all of The Rock’s movies, it’s the fans that matter, and for the most part, Dwayne Johnson delivers.
Black Adam box office estimates
With critic reviews being so bad, it’s going to be word-of-mouth that makes or breaks the flick.
Box office estimates are offering the flick could bring in anywhere from $55-75 million, but it is possible Black Adam could go lower.
I’ve been checking my local theaters on Fandango and they are empty, including the Thursday previews, which is surprising and means hardcore comic book fans aren’t coming out to see the flick or at least buy tickets ahead of time.
It could be that fans are waiting to see what the reviews say and what other fans think. I go see the movie on Thursday so you can find my first thoughts on Twitter.
The film opens Oct. 21.
