Batman Vs. Superman: WB Says A Disconnect Exists Between Critics and Fans

Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman has bucked the trend of a movie with negative reviews over at Rotten Tomatoes never achieving more than a $150 million opener as the film has netted over $170 million domestically.

Warner Bros. previously explained the reason in part they felt there were so many negative reviews was a result of a bandwagon effect that saw a batch of early negative reviews released, which caused other critics to follow suit.

It’s even been said Warner Bros. is going to rethink how they present Suicide Squad to the critics, as with Batman Vs. Superman only an initial smaller batch of critics first saw the movie instead of most of them at the same time, which is another reason they think led to the negative reviews.

Now WB’s domestic chief of distribution weighs in on the negative reviews as THR reports Jeff Goldstein feels the critics are not in tune with the movie as much as the fans are with the film.

“There is no question this is an extraordinary achievement,” Goldstein said of Batman Vs. Superman‘s record opening. “Clearly, audiences have embraced it and we are already seeing repeat business. It’s just fun. Often, there’s a disconnect between critics and audiences.”

Currently, Batman Vs. Superman is at 29% amongst critics at Rotten Tomatoes, with 73% of audiences finding the movie favorable.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is directed by Zack Snyder starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
