Following War for the Planet of the Apes, Matt Reeves will be directing the upcoming solo Batman movie.
While promoting Apes, Matt Reeves has also been discussing Batman and tells Cnet the movie may have a touch of Alfred Hitchcok.
âFor me, point of view is always really important. I want to make sure you are experiencing something from the perspective of the main character in the story. Iâm a huge Hitchcock fan. I like the idea of being immersed in that perspective. Movies for me are about empathy. The idea is to make you, as an audience, feel what the character, who you are not, feels. And I really hope that will continue in Batman. That will be my goal. But we are just starting, so⊠who knows. â
Matt Reeves also recently discussed similar sentiments in that he wants a personal take on Batman,
âLook, Iâm just starting Batman because literally, [War for the Planet of the Apes], as I just said, we finished about a we ago and now weâre publicizing it. So, we havenât even begun on Batman. For me, whatâs always important is to try and find a personal way in. In that way, I do feel like I relate to actors. Itâs about understanding emotionally, the way something is. I see this parallel between Caesar and Batman, really, which is this idea of these characters who are grappling with their own struggle and trying to do the right thing in an imperfect world and, so, I do really relate it to that kind of idea.â
The Batman movie currently has no release date and stars Ben Affleck.
