Bane & Deathstroke DC Villain Movie In Development

Bane & Deathstroke DC Villain Movie In Development

It’s learned that a Bane and Deathstroke DC villain movie is in development which will feature the pair together in a film.

According to THR, Matthew Orton is developing the script who wrote an episode of Marvel’s Moon Knight and has a writing credit on Captain America: Brave New World.

The flick is said to be under the James Gunn and Peter Safran-led DC Studios. It’s unclear if it will be separate from Gunn’s DCU.

Deadline also adds that Gunn and Safran are producing and that the “exact plot details are still uncertain and sources also stressed the two characters would be in the movie but it’s unclear if they would be the central figures of the project.”

As noted, the DC villain movie announcement comes prior to Joker 2 next month and follows the big success of The Penguin on HBO and Max. The series, which spins off from Matt Reeves’ The Batman, scored massive ratings. The first Joker movie also made a billion dollars. We can also add Suicide Squad is a team of villains and Peacemaker isn’t exactly a superhero. Ditto for Harley Quinn, so we see DC thinks its villains may be the way to go.

Let’s also mention that Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine has made $1.3 billion. The creation of the Merc With A Mouth happens to be inspired in part by Deathstroke. Certainly, WB has noticed Marvel’s recent success. Maybe it’s a Secret Six movie?

Fans of the comics known Bane as the Batman villain who broke the Dark Knight’s back, and Tom Hardy played a version of the character in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.

Gunn’s Marvel Drax actor, Dave Bautista, has made it super clear that he wants to play Bane.

Regarding Deathstroke, another of Gunn’s buddies played the character with Joe Manganiello in Zack Snyder’s DCEU. Manganiello was supposed to star opposite Ben Affleck as Deathstroke in Affleck’s version of The Batman where Deathstroke started to kill Batman villains leading to a confrontation with the Caped Crusader. Joe Manganiello was also supposed to star in a solo Deathstroke movie by The Raid director Gareth Evans. Obviously, none of that happened. Hey, it would be pretty wild if Gunn brought Manganiello back as Deathstroke in the DCU. Gunn’s brought other characters back. Who would complain?

New episodes of Penguin air Sundays and Joker 2 opens on Oct 4. DC Comics also happens to be publishing more Batman villain comics, as I believe, DC is publishing, for the first time, a Harvey Dent Two Face comic.
