DC, Matt Reeves, and The Penguin come out swinging as the show’s ratings explode and give a huge beat down to the likes of House of the Dragon, Rings of Power, The Acolyte, the Marvel and Star Wars shows, and more.
The huge ratings for The Penguin also follows The Batman performing big on the Max streaming service back in 2022.
What are The Penguin‘s ratings?
Via Samba TV, it’s revealed a whopping 3.2 million households watched the first episode of The Penguin in its first four days of release. This follows 4.1 million households watching The Batman in its first week of release on the Max streaming service back in April of 2022.
For a comparison, the House of the Dragon Season 2 premiere on Max was watched by 50% less viewers in its first day than the 2.6 million households who tuned in for Season 1 (went on to have 4.8M in first four days).
Update: Samba TV reports that The Penguin also topped its weekly charts coming in at #1 for the week of September 16 – September 22.
Only 902k households watched Rings of Power Season 2 on Amazon Prime Video.
Regarding The Acolyte, Samba TV didn’t bother to release any data at all, which we can guess is due to a request by Disney who is an investor in Samba TV. The series has already been canceled after one season.
The Penguin also blows away Ahsoka which saw 1.2 million households watch the premiere over its first six days on the Disney+ streaming service.
Likewise, the numbers are better than The Mandalorian Season 3 (1.6M), Obi-Wan (2.14M over first four days), and it even beats Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ 2.1M on Disney+ over its first five days of streaming.
The Penguin also has a 94% Rotten Tomatoes Score from critics and a 90% score from fans. The series stars Colin Farrell as the titular character. New episodes air on Sunday nights.
The Batman Part II is also in development from Reeves and is due out October 2, 2026, with Robert Pattinson returning in the role.
