Avengers: Ultimate Alliance

January of 2017 saw Marvel and Square Enix announce plans for the Avengers Project video game, but it has basically been quiet ever since. Now new rumors have hit the net suggesting it will be a reboot of the popular Marvel: Ultimate Alliance game titled Avengers: Ultimate Alliance.

The rumor comes prior to E3 from a user on 4Chan.

Avengers Ultimate Alliance

According to the Avengers Project rumor, the game is titled Avengers: Ultimate Alliance, but it’s not just Ultimate Alliance 3, it’s said to be a full reboot.

The user compares Avengers: Ultimate Alliance to something like the new God of War, “minus the story continuity: similar name, totally new gameplay/story structure.”

It’s said proof that Avengers Project is an Ultimate Alliance video game comes from the tagline of the first teaser using “Reassemble,” which hints at the game being a reboot. It’s further said this is also why the previous Ultimate Alliance games got upgraded recently for current-gen consoles.

Details rumored about Avengers: Ultimate Alliance include that: “The game takes place from the perspective of multiple Avengers after a cataclysmic incident broke the team apart (think more ‘Dissassembled’ than ‘Civil War’), but there are three which are the core focus: Captain America, Iron Man, and Scarlet Witch (who you heard in the trailer). They aren’t the ONLY playable characters, but they are the leads of the story. Gameplay wise think a mix between Uncharted and Infamous.”

It’s claimed Avengers: Ultimate Alliance will also connect and be in the same world as the new PS4 Spider-Man game (“that Sanctum Sanctorum appearance in still images was not just for fun”), as well as the rumored Eidos Montreal’s Guardians of the Galaxy game.

The 4Chan user says “Marvel Games wants in on that shared universe idea that have made the films literal billions of dollars.”
