James Bond could be in good hands with new owner Amazon. Reportedly, itâs now said the new 007 will be both male and British.
What happened?
Last week saw that report from The Hollywood Reporter offer that Amazon Studios wanted to make James Bond a female, and have spinoffs featuring diverse representations of characters in a Marvel-style cinematic universe. It was reported that long-time owner Barbara Broccoli put the kibosh on Amazonâs ideas, well, the problem now is that Broccoli sold all the rights to Amazon and no longer has creative control.

Fans respond
Following THRâs report, fans exploded in unison online. I know on our Facebook page alone, we reached well over 3 million fans who donât want any woke replacements. Typically, what happens when a character is replaced is âthe messageâ is sent, and itâs all about an agenda instead of a quality story. Often the original character is shit upon as are the longtime creators and fans. The fans donât want that happening to the 60 plus-year history of James Bond as it has been done to Doctor Who.

British and male
The good news is that we get word from The Daily Mail who says their sources say Amazon has revealed the gender of the next 007 following fears the James Bond franchise has been taken over by woke Hollywood.
The site claims James Bond will remain male and British:
âThere have been so many erroneous rumors about the future of Bond. Amazon is committed to keeping the spirit of Bond alive and that means he has to be British or from the Commonwealth â and he has to be male.â

Jeff Bezos sends out company-wide memo
It was previously reported that Amazon owner Jeff Bezos took action after The Wall Street Journal quoted Broccoli calling Amazon executives âfâing idiots.â Reportedly, Bezos then ordered her removal, saying, âI donât care what it costs, get rid of her.ââ According to The Daily Mail, Bezos is a big Bond fan and sent out a company-wide memo to keep Bond male and British:
âJeff is a massive Bond fan and while heâs excited to see how Amazon can take the franchise forward there are certain things which are sacrosanct. Thatâs why the memo went out this week, to reassure everyoneâ
However, the site says James Bond could still be a POC:
âBut certain things are up for discussion, like whether the next Bond should be played by a man of color.â

Pierce Brosnan says new Bond should not be American
Pierce Brosnan has also chimed in who played James Bond from 1995 to 1992, as the Irish actor told the UKâs The Telegraph that the new Bond should not be American and should remain British:
âIt takes great courage for them to let go. I hope that [Amazon] handles the work and the character with dignity and imagination and respectâŠ
âHistory has been passed on and Iâm very proud to have been part of the history and the legacy of Bond and the movies I made with Barbara and Michael.â
Currently, among fans, Henry Cavill is the fan-favorite choice to continue as 007.
