It’s claimed that Nintendo and Sony are looking at Walker Scobell type of actors for the role of Link in the upcoming Zelda live-action movie.
Tuesday saw the big news that The Legend of Zelda live-action film is in development.
With the news, it was also announced the film will be produced by Avi Arad who is also known for producing the Sony Spider-Man movies and Uncharted.
So throughout the years, many fans have fan-casted Tom Holland as Link, and with the announcement that Avi Arad is onboard as producer, it’s again speculated Tom Holland could play Link.
However, Holland happens to be 27 years old and could be around 30 years old by the time The Legend of Zelda gets released, and if there are sequels, even older.
Link is under 18 years old in the games
In the various video games, Link is said to be under the age of 18, and 10 years old in the first game released in 1986.
Following Nintendo’s announcement, the MyTimeToShineHello Twitter account tweeted Sony is looking for younger actors to play Link.
“Walker Scobell is the TYPE of actor they want to cast as Link in the Legend of Zelda movie,” states the account.
Walker Scobell is currently 14 years old and recently starred in The Adam Project and is starring in Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Sony looking for Walker Scobell type of actors doesn’t necessarily mean the actor will get cast as Link but gives a general indication of what they are looking for in an actor to play the role.
“By getting deeply involved in the movie production with the aim to put smiles on everyone’s faces through entertainment, Nintendo will continue its efforts to produce unique entertainment and deliver it to as many people as possible,” stated Nintendo in the announcement.
The live-action The Legend of Zelda doesn’t have a release date as of yet.
