Ahead of next week’s release, Paramount Pictures has released the final trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves which stars Chris Pine, and announced early screenings.
“#DnDMovie is ‘the biggest surprise of the year,’ states the video description. “Watch the final trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and see why audiences are raving! Get tickets now – sneak previews this SUNDAY, in theatres everywhere March 31.”
The Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves early screenings ahead of the official Friday debut take place on Sunday, March 26, Wednesday, March 29, and Thursday, March 30, with tickets now on sale.
Early screenings likely to help boost opening box office
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is actually tracking really low which is probably where there are three days of early screenings to boost the opening weekend box office, so the biggest surprise of the year actually might be how big it bombs as estimates offer it will actually bring in less than Shazam: Fury of the Gods at around $20-30 million at a cost of a budget over $150 million.
The reviews aren’t all that bad as the Rotten Tomatoes Score is at 87% and the early reactions are out of this world, so maybe similar to Shazam, it’s another fun family-friendly movie.
That said, the writers and directors admitted they find it fun and fresh to emasculate the male actors and characters, and I’m scratching my head why they would even say that (do they NOT want people to go see it?). The flick also has the opposite of the tone of the D&D game and has been marketed to those who never played the game, so expect goofy humor on par with Shazam, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
