Netflix has renewed the Wednesday Addams series starring Jenna Ortega for a Season 2.
The streaming service announced the news Friday on its social networks.
“We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore,” Wednesday Season 1 co-showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough exclusively told Netflix’s Tudum. “We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”
The video released features 45 seconds of footage where Jenna Ortega thanks fans for the “pure torture” of having been “hunted, haunted, and mimicked millions of times across the internet.”
“More misery is coming. The global phenomenon will return for Season 2,” teases the video.

What is Wednesday Addams Season 2 about?
While no specific details about Season 2 are known, Netflix teases that “although fans have already seen their favorite new young detective take down one big bad, she’s poised to meet her fair share of adversaries come Season 2.”
“[Wednesday] sticks to her guns, and she’s not out to please anybody,” Ortega also told Tudum. “Which, as someone who used to be an immense people pleaser, I really respect.”
She also added on her Instagram Story, “Thank you to everyone who watched and made this upcoming season possible. This all has been pretty surreal.”
Season 1 is now streaming and broke the most viewed Netflix series in a single week with 341.23 million hours viewed and then 411.29 million hours in its second week.
“It’s been incredible to create a show that’s connected with people across the world,” Millar and Gough add. “We’re thrilled to continue Wednesday’s torturous journey into Season 2.”
The series also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Puggsley, with Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Emma Myers, and Joy Sunday.
The first season follows Wednesday on her own after she is expelled from her “normal” human high school over an incident involving piranhas, where she is sent away to Nevermore Academy, a school for unique students that her parents attended. What she discovers there is a tantalizing, bloody murder mystery — and maybe, just maybe, a few friends as odd as she is.
