Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman has been renewed for a Season 2 by Netflix.
“Yes, it’s true: The Sandman will return to Netflix!” tweeted the show’s official Twitter account.
“There are some astonishing stories waiting for Morpheus & the rest of them… Now it’s time to get back to work. There’s a family meal ahead… And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell,” said Gaiman in the same tweet.
Gaiman also tweeted, “The rumours are true. Netflix is thrilled that so many of you have been watching Sandman, and the thing we were all hoping would happen… has indeed happened…”
What is The Sandman Season 2 about?
Details for The Sandman Season 2 released by Netflix include that new episodes of the series will dive into the conflict that followed the end of Season 1 where Dream (Tom Sturridge) and his friends and foes, and the forces of hell were on the move, led by Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie).
Season 2 will continue to explore the many challenges facing the universe in the wake of Morpheus’ century-long absence, states Netflix.

And now it’s time to get back to work. There’s a family meal ahead, after all. And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell…”

The rumors of The Sandman Season 2 are true
The writer also commented on the Season 2 renewal on his blog.
“The rumours are true. Well, the good ones are, anyway,” said Gaiman. “Netflix is delighted and thrilled that so many of you, all over the world, have been watching and loving Sandman, which means that the thing we were all hoping would happen…? It’s happened.”
Gaimain continued, “And that’s not all! You dared to Dream (and, y’know, kept asking me when and whether they were ever going to show up). And it’s happening! The Sandman profile icons are coming to Netflix! Let joy be unconfined! (I’m going to be Goldie. No, Matthew. No, Goldie.)”
News of The Sandman Season 2 renewal on Netflix follows the official DC Comics Twitter account accidentally leaking the news early.
“The dream continues. [The Sandman] will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel to explore even more stories of the Endless,” stated the tweet.
DC Comics posted the tweet after a fake Twitter account circulated rumors The Sandman had been canceled, which Gaiman called out.
No release date is announced as of yet.
Starring in the series includes Tom Sturridge as Dream of the Endless, Gwendolyn Christie as Lucifer, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Amid Chaudry as Cain and Abel, Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, and Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian.
The cast also includes stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Donna Preston as Despair, Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Niamh Walsh and Joely Richardson play Ethel Cripps, David Thewlis plays John Dee, Kyo Ra plays Rose Walker, Razane Jammal is Lyta Hall, Sandra James Young is Unity Kinkaid, Stephen Fry plays Gilbert, and Patton Oswalt provides the voice of Matthew the Raven.
