With director Matt Reeves going with a new Dark Knight, Armie Hammer once again addresses the rumors that he is up to play Batman, as the actor appears on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“This is the thing about rumors. They are all fine. They are all well and good, but none of the people who start rumors are actually the people who can give you jobs,” Hammer says. “So it’s always like ‘are you going to play Batman?’ I’m like ‘well, you just asked me, but guess who hasn’t?’ Warner Bros. So like, yeah, what are you going to do?”
Jimmy Fallon then remarks that he heard Ben Affleck is stepping down with it said Armie Hammer is on the top of everyone’s list.
“No. D-mn it. No,” Hammer responded.
However, Armie Hammer did offer he would consider it.
“Yeah,” he said. “Like who wouldn’t want to be Batman? I think every guy in this audience would want to be Batman if they could. It’s a good gig.”
In addition to Armie Hammer being rumored to play the new Batman, just about every actor in their late 20s to early 30s has been rumored.
Oscar Isaac also addressed a rumor he is up for the role.
The Batman has a June 25, 2021 release date.
“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale,” Reeves previously said. “It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
