Clayface Trailer At CinemaCon Adds Creepy New Details To DC’s Body Horror Movie

DC Studios showed off the first Clayface trailer at CinemaCon, and it looks like the movie is going all in on horror.

Tom Rhys Harries stars as Matt Hagen, a struggling actor whose life takes a brutal turn after his face is disfigured and he undergoes a transformation that turns his body into clay.

Clayface footage revealed

The teaser opens with Hagen in a hospital bed, his face wrapped in bandages, his eyes red, and his skin looking raw as he appears to be in severe pain and emotionally shattered.

The footage cuts between the injured Hagen and glimpses of him before the accident, playing up the shock of what has happened to him.

Things only get more disturbing from there. Hagen is attacked, pumped with mysterious chemicals, and his body starts changing in gruesome ways.

His lips begin sticking together, his face shifts and breaks down, and shadowy shots show his body forming massive hammer-like hands as people around him scream in horror.

The footage also teases the comic book side of the character, including a giant mace-shaped fist similar to how Clayface has fought Batman in DC comics.

The teaser ends with one of the creepiest moments. Hagen is sitting in a bathtub with his face uncovered. He wipes his face away and reveals there is nothing there.

Cast and release date

James Watkins directs Clayface. Along with Tom Rhys Harries, the cast includes Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, and David Dencik.

Clayface is currently set for release on October 23, 2026.

New Supergirl footage and a sizzle reel was also shown off.
