Following having let it be known she has plans for a third movie, now Patty Jenkins offers further details in that Wonder Woman 3 will probably be set in the present day.

Speaking with THR, Jenkins offers:

I’m not set ,but I am not dying to do another period piece. I read an article about if it would be in the future or where it would be, I’m not positive. It’s definitely one of the things we’ve talked about. I’m not planning to put it in the past again because then where are you going to go. It would be weird, you have to go forward. So it’d definitely a contemporary story. That’s all I can say. Where we put it and how that gets figured out, I haven’t totally nailed that.

Patty Jenkins also previously stated the third movie would be the end of the trilogy.

“Whether I [direct] it or not, I see how her arc should end in my incarnation of Wonder Woman. I have great passion for that,” Jenkins said.

Wonder Woman 3

The first Wonder Woman movie was set during WWI, with the upcoming sequel set in 1984. Jenkins has also offered the sequel being set in 1984 won’t come off as being cheesy or goofy.

“You know what was cool. We were treating the era differently than I’ve seen so far, which I feel like there has been a lot of interesting versions of doing the era,” Jenkins said. “In our version, as a child of the ’80s myself, yes there was ‘funny outfits haha I can’t believe I wore,’ for sure. But there is also incredible music, incredible art, and so I really felt like the 1980s is kind of mankind at their most extreme and at their best. It was when we could do anything we wanted, and we had no idea at the price yet,” Jenkins explained. “So we have really committed to that version of the ’80s — where it’s not needle drops, and it’s not a bunch of jokes. It’s actually the most kind of aspirational and elegant version of the ’80s in many places. And then you kind of throw it away. You get used to it. I enjoyed rolling around in remembering what it was like when we had no idea that this was all going to stop.”

Jenkins has also stated she has no interest in directing another Justice League movie and thinks one shouldn’t be made.

Wonder Woman 1984 gets released June 5, 2020.
