John Carpenter’s classic 1988 movie starring Roddy Piper, They Live, is getting a special 4K restoration for its re-release this Fall.
Check out the new poster to go with it featuring the iconic Piper line, “I came to chew bubblegum and kick -ass, and I’m all out of bubblegum.”
The line was actually ad libbed by the late wresting superstar, who played the character Nada.
“Nada is you, he is every one of you, not blue collar or white collar,” Piper explained back in 2012. “He’s you and that’s why you know nothing about him because it depends on if it’s you, then that’s what’s about him. He’s supposed to represent everybody, not just America, but everybody in the world. And that’s kind of why you as an audience fill in the nothing with whatever ethics and morals you’re fighting for at the time.”
There is also talk of doing a sequel to They Live, which is something director Matt Reeves was once attached to, but Reeves eventually moved on to doing other things.
“Well, I’m not gonna tell you about that, because it might be closer to reality than you think,” John Carpenter recently said while promoting the new Halloween. ““The sequel is, well, we’ll see. We’ll just have to see.”
