Avengers 4: Time Travel Confirmed?

Avengers 4: Time Travel Confirmed

With the Great Titan destroying half the universe and along with it, half of the Marvel superheroes, the current best guess how things will get rectified is through use of time travel in Avengers 4.

Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed has already hinted that the Avengers could use a Time Vortex from inside the Quantum Realm, as his latest movie saw Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne warn Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang about the disturbances inside the microverse dimension.

Now we can add two more pieces to the puzzle that suggest time travel will factor into Avengers 4.

Hitting up the Avengers 4 IMDb lists an extra by the name of Miles Webb as playing a “1970’s Scientist / Lab Worker.”

While true, IMDb isn’t the best of sources as just about anybody could edit a listing, what was thought to be a casting call for Infinity War also lists a 1970s scene, which we can now guess is really for Avengers 4.

Time Vortex

Quantum Realm

The 1970s casting call was filmed the Summer of 2017 using Caucasian females between the ages of 30-49 described as attractive, having natural hair color with no highlights, no tattoos, with long hair preferably a hippy, flower child style.

No details about the scene have leaked online, but if the above is true, it involves some sort of lab scene, and we can guess it may involve the Assemblers going back in time, or quite possibly it could always be a flashback scene of some sort.

Interestingly enough, a recent rumor has it that Ant-Man escapes the Quantum Realm through use of a Time Vortex and travels back in time prior to the Iron Man movie seeking the help of Hank Pym. Could this be the 1970s Avengers 4 scene? A lab scene with a younger Hank Pym (and maybe Goliath?) would definitely fit.

“Based on the science that we’ve set up in [Ant-Man] and [Ant-Man and the Wasp], I won’t rule out the possibility,” Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed said about time travel for Avengers 4. “Because, again, we are dealing with a Time Vortex. That could happen.”

Use of the Time Vortex also means that the surviving Marvel heroes don’t need to rely on the Time Stone, which is currently out of their possession and in the hands of the Great Titan, Thanos.

Further proof Marvel’s Assemblers might go back in time – and actually use a Time Vortex – comes from the recent leaked art (above), which reveals of all people, the Hulk wearing some sort of suit. So why would the Hulk need to wear a suit (made of vibranium?)? Maybe because he goes into the Time Vortex inside the Quantum Realm?

The Avengers 4 leaked set pics also seemingly feature the actors back at the time of the Battle of New York during the first The Avengers movie. Paul Rudd is shown, who we know wasn’t a part of the film, side-by-side Chris Evans in his Avengers Captain America costume.

Robert Downey Jr. is also shown in separate leaked set images as what appears to be a SHIELD agent in disguise, where Loki is also present. The Avengers 4 IMDb page also lists extras as playing various agents of SHIELD.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel

One more major factor that suggests time travel is Captain Marvel. The Infinity War post-credit scene happened to feature Nick Fury using an old pager to contact Carol Danvers. It’s known the Captain Marvel movie, which gets released prior to Avengers 4, takes place in the 1990s. Brie Larson is due to appear in Avengers 4, so we have to assume she makes it to our time (somehow), and not as some fifty year old. Maybe through a Time Vortex?

What also remains to be seen is exactly what role Captain Marvel will play. Will she be the one to wield the Infinity Gauntlet and set things right? It’s known no ordinary person can’t use the Infinity Stones, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has gone on record stating Captain Marvel will be their most powerful superhero to date.

The plot thickens!

The Avengers 4 has a May 3, 2019 release directed by Joe and Anthony Russo also starring Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo.
