Ray Fisher Not Leaving Cyborg Role

Ray Fisher Not Leaving Cyborg Role

Yesterday saw it revealed that Cyborg is coming to the live-action Doom Patrol TV series on the DC Universe streaming network, which spins off of the upcoming Titans series, and now Ray Fisher responds to rumors that he is leaving the role.

Cyborg on Doom Patrol will be played by Joivan Wade and not Justice League actor Ray Fisher, as the TV shows and DCEU movies take place in separate universes.

The news of the casting sees Ray Fisher take to social media to dispel rumors that he is leaving the role, as there have been rumors that a Cyborg movie is not happening. In addition, it’s known that whenever certain characters appear on TV or movies, more than often than not WB removes them from the other medium (i.e. Suicide Squad killed off on Arrow while the movie was released, no Deathstroke on Arrow, Snyder killing Jimmy Olsen while the character is on Supergirl, etc).

So some fans thought that meant Ray Fisher was done with Cyborg.

“I don’t usually engage the rumor-mill, but it’s recent turn may be worth a little grist: I am NOT, nor do I have ANY intention of, leaving Cyborg,” Ray Fisher posted on Twitter. “Furthermore, if/when the time comes for me to hangup my all-too-revealing mocap onesie, you will hear it from me directly,” with Fisher tagging the post with the #BORGLIFE hashtag.

Ray Fisher debuted in a cameo role in Batman vs. Superman prior to starring in Justice League. It’s also known Cyborg’s role in Justice League was drastically changed and cut, and director Zack Snyder even recently teased an image of what is thought to be the unused Knightmare Cyborg Battlesuit.

Regarding a DCEU Cyborg movie, no release date has been announced, but recently saw Joe Morton, who played Cyborg’s dad in Justice League, offer up they could use deleted footage for a Cyborg movie.

“I know there’s supposed to be a Cyborg movie they’re going to shoot in 2020,” Morton told SlashFilm. “That’s all I know. I haven’t seen a script.”

Morgon confirms they changed a lot in Justice League.

“There was [more we shot],” Morton said. “They completely changed the story.”

The Silas Stone actor also offers they could use the cut footage possibly in the solo film.

“Unfortunately, I can’t tell you what [the original story] is because that might end up being in part of the Cyborg movie,” Morton said. “Yes, there was a big change once they decided that they were going to do the Cyborg film.”
