Suicide Squad 2 Gets New Writers

Suicide Squad 2

It’s learned Suicide Squad 2 gets a pair of new writers as David Bar Katz and Todd Stashwick are writing the script with director Gavin O’Connor.

Suicide Squad 2 is a followup to the 2016 DC movie featuring Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto that was directed by David Ayer.

David Bar Katz is known for writing The Man in the Rockefeller Suit and has multiple projects in the works including Chasing Phil from Robert Downey Jr.’s producing team and Warner Bros. Katz also did a rewrite on the 1997 New Line Spawn movie and is writing the play, The History of Invulnerability, which is about the creation of Superman.

Todd Stashwick is known for a plethora of Hollywood roles including the Batman prequel series Gotham, SYFY’s 12 Monkeys, Justified, Supernatural and lots more. Stashwick is also writing a new Star Wars video game from Visceral Games.

Suicide Squad 2 currently has no release date, but the actors are currently in training. Jared Leto recently seemed to tease he is getting back in Joker shape, and Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Jay Hernandez also took to social media.

Kinnaman told Yahoo about Suicide Squad 2: “[Suicide Squad] was a great set-up, great characters. I think when we do the second one, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a more grounded version of the film. The characters are so extreme it could be more effective if we saw less sorcery. I think the characters become more extreme if you see them in conjunction with real people.”

WB also has spinoffs in the works for Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto as Joker.
