It’s learned the DCEU movie for The Flash will not be titled “Flashpoint” and may not even be adapting the story.
The tidbit comes on Twitter from a writer for THR.
“I didn’t say they weren’t adapting Flashpoint. All I said was that it wouldn’t be titled Flashpoint. But maybe I’ve said too much,” Borys Kit said.

WB first announced the title at Comic-Con, and this past December even saw the DCEU lineup confirmed at the Brazil Comic Con, but things have obviously changed, which is probably due to the new people in charge.
I actually questioned if the title would be used as it’s a pretty dark and serious story in the comics.
It’s known Justice League was changed up to make it less serious following Batman vs. Superman.
In the comics, the story features an alternate universe created when Barry Allen goes back in time to save his mother’s life. Changes include that a young Bruce Wayne is killed, with his parents going on to become Batman and the Joker. Wonder Woman and Aquaman are also at war with one another, and Kal-El never became Superman, but instead was captured as a baby and became the subject of experimentation.
As we see, the DCEU version of the movie – if strictly adapted – wouldn’t seem to be filled with jokes or be light-hearted, which we can guess is the approach they are going for in The Flash movie (at least my guess).
Some fans also think WB might have been using Flashpoint as some sort of reboot to the DCEU, as there is question if Ben Affleck is returning as Batman, but that might not be the case.
If you are disappointed the title will not be Flashpoint, the good news is that the tweet above doesn’t specifically state they are not using it. If I also had to guess, I am guessing they are incorporating certain elements from the DC Comics Flashpoint storyline, but not everything, and that the movie definitely won’t be as dark.
The Flash movie currently has no released date and has John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein on board as directors with Ezra Miller returning as the titular character.
