It’s looking likely that the Justice League opening weekend box office will be a lot lower than expected.
Following the $13 million opening on Thursday, it’s reported the Friday box office (which includes Thursday) comes in at $38 million, which may mean Justice League could finish around $93 million, which is lower than the anticipated $115 million.
Justice League has been bumped up by just a bit over at Rotten Tomatoes, but it’s still rather low at 40%. The movie also has a B+ CinemaScore.
The current numbers for Justice League:
U.S.: $38,800,000
Foreign: $70,700,000
Total: $109,500,000
As I’ve previously stated, I enjoyed Justice League a lot. A couple people I have talked to about the movie that have also seen it have enjoyed it, so I don’t think it’s a bad movie at all. It’s definitely not a “Zack Snyder” movie, which I’m guessing a lot of fans were hoping for, but at the same time hoping it was “fixed.” By that I mean in the same tone as Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman, but minus those movies faults. I wouldn’t call Justice League an “epic” movie, which I think is what Snyder likes to put out, but Justice League is still “good.” The CGI also seems to have been a problem for some people, particularly with Henry Cavill’s mustache, but I didn’t even notice. I think they could have done a better job with the look of Steppenwolf, and maybe using practical effects would have been a better way to go. Doomsday didn’t look good at all in Batman vs. Superman, and now there are issues with the digital effects in Justice League, so maybe therein lies part of the problem. Of course, whomever okayed the finished effects on the movie seems to be a part of the problem as well. The Danny Elfman music score was a bit iffy at times and sounded too much like Avengers or the Burton Batman movies. It was a noticeable difference from Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL.
With Justice League, it appears as if the Zack Snyder DCEU era is over: Ben Affleck wants out of Batman, and there is even a new rumor stating Henry Cavill wants out as Superman. To date, the only good thing to come out of the DCEU that is proven is Gal Gadot and Wonder Woman.
Justice League has a November 17, 2017 release directed by Zack Snyder, with the story by Chris Terrio and Zack Snyder, the screenplay by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, and stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe an Atlantean, Nuidis Vulko.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
