Gina Carano Rumored for Big Star Wars Return

Gina Carano Rumored for Big Star Wars Return

A new rumor claims Gina Carano’s Disney settlement could pave the way for a major Star Wars comeback and even see her headline her own series.

YouTuber Doomcock says multiple Hollywood sources have told him that Carano’s settlement includes a deal for her to star in a revived Rangers of the New Republic series.

Rumor Claims “Rangers of the New Republic” Revival

According to the rumor, the show would feature Timothy Olyphant reprising his role as Cobb Vanth, be directed exclusively by Jon Favreau, and operate without interference from other Lucasfilm executives — giving Favreau full creative control (something said was lacking in The Mandalorian Season 3 and the reason for the disappointing third season).

The rumor goes so far as to say that Favreau reportedly left the upcoming Mandalorian movie to focus on a secret Star Wars project, which could the new Gina Carano series. The YouTuber adds that Favreau also left the set to reprise his Marvel role, Happy Hogan, in both Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Rangers of the New Republic was originally announced in 2020 with Carano’s Cara Dune expected to lead, but it was shelved after her 2021 firing.

Disney onboard?

The claim lines up with speculation after Carano’s recent lawsuit settlement, when Disney and Lucasfilm issued a surprisingly positive statement about “identifying opportunities to work together” in the future.

If true, it would not only mark Carano’s return to Star Wars, but also revive a project Favreau had planned years ago, that is believed to have been derailed by behind-the-scenes politics.

What has Gina Carano said?

Interestingly enough, in a recent social media post, Carano told fans, “Bring the Grogu’s out, I’m ok! I do believe positive change is happening. We will see.”

Taking It With a Grain of Salt

Doomcock emphasizes that this is unverified and should be treated as rumor until official confirmation. However, he says the number of sources sharing the same information makes it noteworthy, but he and his contacts still use the “believe it when we see it” approach.

Carano and Disney have not commented on the claim, and no Star Wars announcements have mentioned her involvement in any upcoming projects.

Fans are excited for the return of Gina Carano to Star Wars

The possibility of Carano returning has set off a wave of enthusiasm online, to say the least.

Our recent coverage of her settlement reached over 13.2 million people on Facebook, with overwhelming support in the comments. Popular YouTubers Nerdrotic and Tyrone Magnus have also covered the story, calling it a major win for the actress.

For fans who wanted Cara Dune back in the Star Wars galaxy, this rumor is exactly the kind of news they’ve been waiting for.
