Last night saw Marvel Studios open up their offices to various press, which saw Nerdist spot concept art for the Captain Marvel movie.
Two pieces of the art featured Carol Danvers Captain Marvel costume, which is said to resemble the comic book costume:
Though the design kept Captain Marvel’s signature eight-pointed star emblem square on the chest, its look and feel were more akin to Ant Man’s suit than Iron Man’s. Like a form-fitting armor, her suit is less spandex and more military grade, covering her whole body. Her iconic sash is more of a utility belt, favoring function over form. In the concept art she stands tall, staring off into the distance, looking hopeful but tough.
As noted, Captain Marvel will be having a different origin in the movie than the comics (because of Green Lantern), but concept art did seem to possibly reveal a Kree connection:
The third image showed her fighting off a something in a giant metal suit with a helmet; the creature looked almost like the Kree sentries. Between her hands, glowing red energy–a.k.a. Captain Marvel’s energy projection and absorption powers.
Captain Marvel has a March 8, 2019 release starring Brie Larson.
