A Watchmen R-rated animated movie looks to possibly be in development.
FilmBuffOnline was sent info on a reported online marketing survey which features a description for an “upcoming straight-to-video movie, Watchmen” with it said to be “a faithful adaptation of the Watchmen graphic novel in an animation style that mirrors the source material” with it further said to have an “anticipated MPAA R rating.”
The survey asks fans if they are interested in watching something like that, with the response speculated to be a resounding yes.
It’s further said the questionnaire also lists potential projects for Swamp Thing, Batman: A Death In The Family, Batman: The Long Halloween, the Gotham Academy series, the Superman Red Sun Elseworlds story, the Injustice: Gods Among us video game and comic, Scooby Apocalypse, Fables, Lucifer, iZombie, Hellblazer, Preacher and Sandman.
It should be noted that being listed on the survey doesn’t necessarily mean the above titles will be made into animated movies, but that WB is gauging potential fan interest.
However in the case of Watchmen, it does state “upcoming,” which sounds like it is definitely happening.
Zack Snyder directed the live-action Watchmen movie back in 2009.
