Oscar-award winning writer Aaron Sorkin is being courted by both Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios to write comic book movies, but the only issue happens to be Sorkin has never read them.
Comic Book.com caught up with Andy Sorkin who revealed he is in talks with both DC and Marvel.
“It’s funny that you mention that just cause I happen to have meetings coming up with both DC and Marvel, and I have to go into these meetings, and tell them as respectfully as I can, that I’ve never read a comic book. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I’ve never been exposed to one. So, I’m hoping that somewhere in their library is a comic book character that I’m going to love and I’m going to want go back and start reading from the first issue on.”
Aaron Sorkin won an Oscar for writing The Social Network and is also known for writing A Few Good Men, Steve Jobs, HBO’s The Newsroom, Moneyball, The West Wing TV series, and the upcoming Molly’s Game.
Sorkin would be a pretty huge name for either WB or Marvel.
Regarding not being familiar with comic books, I’m pretty sure the same applied to Batman vs. Superman and Justice League writer Chris Terrio, so not being knowledgeable (at first) about the source material shouldn’t be that big of a problem.
