Wrestlemania 36 Canceled; Will Relocate Due To Coronavirus

The coronavirus body slams Wrestlemania as WWE’s big yearly event is canceled and will be relocated.

The WWE made the official announcement today, of all days, on 3/16:

In coordination with local partners and government officials, WrestleMania and all related events in Tampa Bay will not take place. However, WrestleMania will still stream live on Sunday, April 5 at 7 pm ET on WWE Network and be available on pay-per-view. Only essential personnel will be on the closed set at WWE’s training facility in Orlando, Florida to produce WrestleMania.

It’s also assumed that WWE RAW, the Monday after, will also be relocated to the Orlando training facility in addition to any additional WWE events that may be canceled as a result of the coronavirus scare.

Coronavirus cancels WWE shows, Wrestlemania, XFL

Tonight on Monday Night RAW saw Stone Cold Steve Austin declare #316Day a National Holiday in stunning fashion by celebrating with Becky Lynch, Edge challenged Randy Orton to a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania, Kevin Owens challenged Seth Rollins, and The Undertaker and AJ Styles signed the contract for a match to take place on The Grandest Stage of Them All as well.

In addition to Wresltmania getting canceled and relocated, Vince McMhanon canceled the rest of the season for his new XFL football league.

“Currently, the XFL will not be playing its regular-season games,” the company said in a statement. “However, all players will be paid their base pay and benefits for the 2020 regular season. All XFL ticket holders will be issued refunds or credit toward future games. The XFL is committed to playing a full season in 2021 and future years.”
