Marvel Back Up On Top In October: DC Execs Have Melt Down

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:3946:]]Diamond released the early numbers for October sales and we see that Marvel is back on top.

Marvel led in both retailer and market share with 35.14% and 39.54%, respectively.

DC meanwhile saw 31.51% for their retailer share and 34.40% for the market share.

DC Comics did manage to take the top graphic novel spot with JMS and Shane Davis’ Superman: Earth One Volume 2.

Marvel scored 5 of the top 10, with DC taking four.

But perhaps even bigger news than Marvel reclaiming the lead is that Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead #103 made its way in to the top dead coming in at #9.

Newsarama’s Vaneta Rogers interviewed DC Comics execs on the October sales, which resulted in a fiasco of an interview.

I don’t know. I didn’t hear enough of your thesis to know how that works. You’re citing a couple of what you call “events,” and then you’re saying that that’s the only thing that works in the marketplace. And I’m just not sure your what your evidence is to make that claim, so I’m not sure why I have to cite evidence to go against it. – DC Comics Vice President of Marketing John Cunningham

Uncanny Avengers took the #1 spot overall, and it’s already been said that issue #2 and 3 will be delayed, with reportedly no issue of Uncanny Avengers in December.
