Joseph Gordon-Levitt On Jay Leno: Talks The Dark Knight Rises, Batman, Heath Ledger, Robin

pic Joseph Gordon-Levitt appeared on the “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” and while promoting his new movie, 50/50, he spoke about Batman and The Dark Knight Rises.

Gordon-Levitt states that he is playing a member of the Gotham P.D., John  Blake, to which the crowd responded in laughter.

Leno brought up rumors on the internet in regards to Gordon-Levitt actually playing Robin.

“There is a lot of rumors, people like to talk about Batman,” responded Gordon-Levitt.

Jay pointed out that the answer was a political one, and that he didn’t say “no.”

“Well, it is flattering, people do like to talk about it,” Gordon-Levitt said. “Batman is a very important character to a lot of people. It’s important to me. I’ve loved Batman way before Christopher Nolan was making movies about him.”

Leno then interjects, “Before it was fashionable to like Batman.”

To which Gordon-Levitt responded, “It was always fashionable to like Batman. He doesn’t go in and out of fashion. He’s just classic.”

When asked who his favorite villain was, Gordon-Levitt said Heath Ledger’s Joker.

“I think Heath Ledger’s Joker is probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.”

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christan Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra’s al Ghul.
