Shazam! Gets A Release Date

The Shazam! movie has an official release date of April 5, 2019.

Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation helmer David F. Sandberg is directing the Shazam! movie, which will star Zachary Levi as the titular character.

The story sees young Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel, transformed into the super hero Captain Marvel (Levi) when he yells the magic word, “Shazam!”

Zachary Levi previously compared the Shazam! movie to Superman meets Big.

“I can’t tell you much, as you can probably imagine, but what I can say is I am just out of my mind excited!” Levi said. “I get to do my version of Big, basically. It’s like Superman meets Big, and that’s just so fun.”

Sandberg has been active on social media teasing pre-production of the movie which films soon in Toronto.

Shazam! is also set to star Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene, Jovan Armand as Pedro, with Cooper Andrews, and Mark Strong is rumored as the villain.

In addition to announcing the release date for Shazam!, WB also cancelled a July 27, 2019 release date for an undisclosed DC movie.
