Rob Liefeld Responds To X-Men & Deadpool Selling To Disney

Rob Liefeld Responds To X-Men & Deadpool Selling To Disney

It’s reported that Disney has had talks with FOX Studios about buying the company, which means the X-Men, Wolverine, Fantastic Four and Deadpool would go with it.

Earlier saw Ryan Reynolds respond about the potential purchase, and now Deadpool and Cable creator Rob Liefeld weighs in on Instagram.

Rob Liefeld pens an open letter to the head of FOX,  Rupert Murdoch, asking if they will wait until after the release of Deadpool 2.

It’s your buddy Rob. Wait on any further talks until Deadpool 2 opens and does a billion. And X-Force!

This is your Star Wars franchise and you’ve only scratched the surface. Everyone on the film side has kicked into overdrive. Watch that portfolio grow!

Cable Josh Brolin

Those are some big words by Rob Liefeld, but they do hold merit.

The first Deadpool movie opened to $783 million and didn’t get a chance to open in China, the #2 market in the world, so it’s safe to assume it would have come pretty close to that billion dollar mark.

Now with the first Deadpool movie being such a huge success and the character’s popularity higher than ever, that magic billion dollar mark seems likely for the second movie.

There is no stopping Deadpool as Deadpool 3 is also in the works in addition to the X-Force movie, which will feature Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin.

X-Men New Mutants

FOX is also releasing the X-Men: New Mutants movie and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and also has achieved success on television with The Gifted and Legion.

Regarding the sale going through, the initial report did state that talks have currently stopped between Disney and FOX, but obviously they could pick up again.

While Avengers vs X-Men on the big screen would be pretty sweet, I’ve really been enjoying what FOX has done with their X-Men universe as of late. I think they found their niche with R-rated comic book movies. More than likely if the X-Men went to Marvel Studios, anything R-rated would be eliminated.
