Back in 2015 there was a big rumor stating by the year 2020, there would be an Avengers and X-Men movie.
Now the rumor may actually not be that far off as it is reported Disney is in early talks to purchase FOX Studios, the home of the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool.
CNBC reports 21st Century Fox has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Walt Disney Co., but that Disney would not purchase all of Fox.
If the deal ends up going through apparently FOX wants to focus on news and sports, which it feels could compete more effectively.
It’s said talks have been going on for the past few weeks; however, it is reported the two sides are not currently talking at this very moment.
Bringing in FOX Studios under its fold would be pretty huge for Disney as it recently purchased Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel.
Interestingly enough, FOX has been working with Marvel TV on their X-Men TV shows and the X-Men have been returning to the Marvel Comics.
Marvel CEO/Chairman Ike Perlmutter has been said to be at odds with FOX Studios over their Marvel-owned characters, but now maybe the talks with Disney purchasing FOX (Perlmutter is one of the largest Disney stock shareholders), have changed things.
Marvel Studios recently made a deal with Sony to be able to use Spider-Man in their movies, so bringing in the FOX Studios characters would basically reunite all of Marvel under Disney.
