Dave Bautista Wants Avengers vs. X-Men

Dave Bautista Wants Avengers vs. X-Men

There’s good news and bad news regarding Dave Bautista and Avengers vs X-Men.

The bad news is that Dave Bautista joins Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, as Bautista also shoots down hopes of a possible Avengers vs X-Men movie. The good news? At least Bautista wants it to happen.

While at this weekend’s Heroes & Villans FanFest in Atlanta, Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Dave Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer, was asked his thoughts on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and if he would like Marvel to crossover with the X-Men.

“As a fan I would love to see it,” Dave Bautista replied. “Unfortunately, it’s always going to be like that because the studios have a thing. X-Men vs. Avengers will probably never happen.”

Speculation that an Avengers vs X-Men movie might happen was renewed by the fact that Marvel Studios and Fox Studios came to a mutual deal over the use of characters in Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Fox Studios received the ability to change the powers of Nega Sonic Teenage Warhead for Deadpool, while Marvel Studios received use of Ego the Living Planet for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, played by Kurt Russell.

As noted, Dave Bautista’s remarks mirror James Gunn’s own comments about hoping for more from Marvel and Fox as Gunn recently told a fan it was just a deal between studios and that “people shouldn’t infer anything more than that.”

There has been rumor of an Avengers vs X-Men movie for some time, with the latest rumor stating the X-Men will be rebooted within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that Bryan Singer will not be returning. The latest news surrounding the X-Men reboot supports two of the three claims.

A potential Avengers vs X-Men movie can’t be ruled out as it’s known Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige does have a good relationship with various Fox executives as Feige actually worked underneath X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner at one time.

If an Avengers vs X-Men movie ever does happen, more than likely it would be without Hugh Jackman as Jackman is currently involved with his last X-Men movie, Logan, the third Wolverine movie.
