Common Wants To Play Green Lantern John Stewart

Though Common had a brief role in Suicide Squad, perhaps there is still room for more of the actor/rapper in the DCEU as he tells IGN he wouldn’t mind playing Green Lantern John Stewart in the upcoming Green Lantern Corps movie. Common was actually up top play Green Lantern John Stewart in the defunct 2008 Justice League Mortal George Miller flick that never got off the ground.

“No, I haven’t spoken to DC. John Stewart, the character, is amazing. When I had the opportunity of potentially being John Stewart, when we were working, I learned how he was part of the Green Lantern Corps and all that he was doing. He was kind of community-driven so I felt like, ‘Oh, man, I love this character.’  He used his mind to do a lot of things, so I connected with him. I just love the character, but I don’t know, I haven’t talked to DC about it but, you know, hey! Yeah, I would love [to]. That would be an honor to play John Stewart.”

As it stands, it’s unknown when a Green Lantern will appear in the DCEU, but there has been some rumor and speculation Green Lantern may appear in this year’s Justice League. It recently became known that David S. Goyer is writing the Green Lantern Corps movie script, which looks to have a 2020 release date.
