Obi-Wan, Boba Fett & Young Star Wars Movies Rumored

A new batch of Star Wars rumors has hit the net offering possible details on Disney’s plans for the franchise following Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019.

According to Star Wars News Net, plans are underway for Star Wars standalone movies about Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett and a Star Wars movie aimed at young adults.

Details for the potential Obi-Wan movie include:

• It could have a 2020 release date.

• Would star Ewan McGregor.

• Would be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

• Would not be a trilogy.

• Could have Rogue One director Gareth Edwards on board with new writers and producers (meaning not with the Rogue One writers and producers).

• The Obi-Wan Kenobi movie announcement may be coming next month at Star Wars Celebration.

Details for the Boba Fett movie include:

• Not a straight-up Boba Fett movie, but a Star Wars film about a group of bounty hunters on an adventure.

• Most likely not a Boba Fett origin story.

• Boba Fett will be an important part of the movie (as opposed to the central character) meaning the actor possibly won’t get a lot of face time, but Boba Fett will be seen a lot with his helmet on (sort of similar to Dredd and how Boba Fett was portrayed in Empire and Return).

• Said to use the same idea as the Josh Trank Boba Fett movie.

• Simon Kinberg has been working on the movie and further developed it.

Young adult Star Wars movie details:

• Said to target the young adult audience and have a slight romantic theme.

• The story is said to be a tragedy-type love story that is more in common with Han Solo and Princess Leia’s romance in The Empire Strikes Back than anything else.

• Said to be the first major step to getting a Star Wars movie directed by a female.

• For those wondering, the young adult Star Wars movie won’t adapt the popular Claudia Grey “Lost Stars” novel.
