Derek Theler Wants To Play Shazam

Actor and model Derek Theler wants to play Shazam opposite Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.

Derek Theler has previously expressed interest in playing Shazam, with the latest being a rather enigmatic hashtag on an Instagram post, which happens to feature Dwayne Johnson.

Derek Theler filmed a promo for Dwayne Johnson’s new competition series on YouTube and used #Shazam as the hashag, so it seems he may have spoken to Johnson about the role.

Even though he fills the shirt out a little more, I was so pumped I got to meet the #legend @therock while filming #rockthepromo. Such a hard working, talented guy, #hero. And, @lsummerscales has a surprise appearance in the finale! #thankyou #thebest #shazam

We see from the image that Derek Theler, who stands at least 6’5″ tall, looks to be possibly more than a match for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, so at the very least, Derek Theler looks the part of Shazam.

Derek Theler is known for Babby Daddy and the low budget Shark Killer flick, and it was also recently announced that Derek Theler has been cast in the Valiant Comics live-action Ninjack series.

The Shazam! movie isn’t do out until 2019, so there is a lot of time to cast Shazam. In addition to Derek Theler’s name surfacing, recently saw Alan Ritchson state he’s possibly playing Shazam.

Shazam!, produced and starring Dwayne Johnson, has an April 5, 2019 release. No director is yet attached. Kevin Kago has also been said to be cast in Shazam!
