Batman Vs. Superman won’t be without an opponent when it premiers March 25, 2016.
Though Wonder Woman is set to appear, Universal Studios is throwing its own Greek might at Batman vs. Superman with the sequel to the smash hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding premiered in 2002, and with a budget of a measly $5 million, went on to make over $368 million worldwide, with a majority of that in the U.S.
With international audiences being as big as they are now, look for a substantial boost to My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.
Of course, it’s always possible that Batman Vs. Superman could crush My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but as the latter is a romantic comedy, the audiences look to be a bit different.
Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which is really a third Avengers film, also hits six weeks following Batman vs. Superman on May 6th.
Batman Vs. Superman may also face some competition from Jon Favreau’s Jungle Book (April 15, 2016) and Chris Hemsworth’s The Hunstman (April 22, 2016), but they look to be far enough way not to pose any real threat.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter and Tao Okamoto in new character roles for the film. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.
