Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse Moves to Father’s Day Weekend 2027

Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse Moves to Father’s Day Weekend 2027

Sony has officially shifted the release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse to June 18, 2027, placing the highly anticipated animated sequel on Father’s Day weekend.

The move comes after Sony originally dated the film for June 4. The new date gives the movie a bit more summer breathing room and puts it head-to-head with Disney and Pixar’s Italian cat-themed animated feature, Gatto.

The strategic repositioning could help Sony capitalize on a major family-driven box office weekend, while also setting up a clash between two visually stylized animated films from powerhouse studios.

A Big Weekend for Animation

Father’s Day weekend has proven successful for family and superhero films in the past. Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse were both box office successes and critical darlings, and this third installment will likely follow suit.

Sony previewed the new Spider-Verse entry during CinemaCon in April, sharing footage (not yet released online) and stills featuring Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Prowler. Co-creator and producer Christopher Miller also teased images on social media.

Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson are the directors. Producers include Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Jinko Gotoh and Avi Arad. EPs are Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg.
