‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’ Brings Horror To Classic Kids Tale

A new indie horror movie has been announced with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey which is a take on the classic kids tale usually associated with Disney, originally created by English author A. A. Milne and English illustrator E. H. Shepard.

However, as seen by the first look images below from Jagged Edge Productions, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is hardly anything like a children’s story as it reimagines the characters in horror form.

The rights to Winnie the Pooh entered into public domain earlier this year, so that’s how this indie slasher flick is able to be made, which seems to suggest the killers are wearing the masks of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

IMDb describes the movie as: It follows Pooh and Piglet as they go on a rampage after Christopher Robin abandons them.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is written and directed by filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield who makes his debut with the film, Scott Jeffrey is the producer who also produced The Legend of Jack and Jill and The Curse of Humpty Dumpty, and starring in the movie includes Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, and Danielle Scott. Also producing includes Stuart Alson, Nicole Holland, and Waterfield; Vince Knight is the cinematographer, with makeup effects by Rebecca Wheeler.

Winnie the Pooh first appeared in 1926 as a series of stories in the book of the same name, with Disney licensing the characters in 1961, A.A. Milne’s copyright expired at the end of 2021, as it had been 95 years since publication of the first story.
