Supergirl TV Series Is A Definite Go For CBS

[page_title]

The Supergirl TV series is definitely happening as CBS has ordered it to series.

THR reports following a potential iffy greenlight, which may have seen the Supergirl series land at the CW, Supergirl was only approved for CBS following CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler’s approval after viewing the final cut of the series.

Apparently CBS was on the fence regarding Supergirl, but Tassler is reported to have been looking for dramas with strong female leads, and it’s said when Tassler saw the Supergirl final cut that she loved it and approved it.

It’s currently unknown when CBS will air Supergirl, but the article speculates possibly Sunday nights at 8pm or maybe even airing it in the Summer paired with Under the Dome, Extant or Zoo.

Supergirl is from writer/exec producers Ali Adler and Greg Berlanti starring Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El and Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, David Harewood as HankHenshaw, and Dean Cain and Helen Slater in mystery roles.

Synopsis:

Based on the characters from DC Comics, Supergirl will follow Kara Zor-El. Born on the planet Krypton, Kara escaped amid its destruction years ago. And since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
