Joss Whedon Reveals The Avengers 2 Run-Time

[page_title]

Contrary to earlier reports that The Avengers 2 would be nearly three hours in length, it’s learned Age Of Ultron is actually shorter than the first Avengers movie.

Joss Whedon spoke with BuzzFeed and confirmed The Avengers: Age Of Ultron run-time is one-minute shorter than the first movie, coming in at 142 minutes, when discussing Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver:

“They don’t like America, and they don’t like the Avengers,” Whedon told BuzzFeed News many months later while in the final weeks of post-production on the movie. “We only touch on it briefly — there was more. When the movie was an hour longer, everything got explained a lot.” (According to Whedon, Age of Ultron clocks in a full minute shorter than its predecessor, or roughly 142 minutes, debunking rumors that it is nearly three hours long.) “The Avengers are like a world power, and not everybody’s on board with the Avengers coming in and starting fights, even in the name of justice,” he continued. “So you need that dissenting voice, and you need to understand it and sympathize with it.”

“The Avengers: Age Of Ultron” hits May 1, 2015 directed by Joss Whedon starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Paul Bettany as Vision, with James Spader as Ultron.

Synopsis:

When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
