James Gunn Not Involved With Superman ‘Ozu’ Meme Coin

James Gunn takes to social media to let it be known that he is not involved with a Superman “Ozu” meme coin that has been launched on the Solana network.

Gunn posted on social media, “I don’t know what it is, but neither I nor #OzuTheDog are affiliated with it.”

Interestingly enough, for some reason, Gunn also included the link to the site. It kind of seems odd Gunn would do that as obviously that would likely increase attention and could scam potential fans.

Ozu The Dog meme coin

The link to the site reveals it’s an “Ozu The Dog” meme coin and contains a Solana address which people can use to buy the coin at various exchanges. The site features images with James Gunn and his dog, Ozu, who serves as the inspiration for Krypto in Gunn’s Superman movie.

“Who is Ozu?” states the site which also includes the images of David Corenswet as Superman. “$OZU isn’t just another meme coin. It’s the story of a dog named Ozu, whose sad journey inspired the creation of Krypto, Superman’s loyal canine companion. James Gunn, director of Superman, adopted Ozu from a hoarding situation. Ozu was a handful-destroying shoes, furniture, and even Gunn’s laptop. Over time, Ozu’s resilience became an inspiration for Gunn, who wondered, What if Ozu had superpowers? And just like that, Krypto was born due to Ozu.”

The meme coin also claims to be raising funds for Wagmor Pets, the nonprofit organization from which James Gunn got his dog, Ozu. To make it look authentic, the site links to Gunn and Wagmor Pets’ Instagram posts.

Is it the Ozu meme coin a scam?

The Ozu meme coin could be a scam but it could very well be legit. Not all meme coins are scams, but be forewarned, nearly all tend to PUMP and DUMP. Recently has seen meme coins associated with Trump and Dave Portnoy pump but then dump, meaning they skyrocket in value but then quickly lose their value.

Checking the chart, the Ozu meme coin has already pumped and dumped, just last week.

Anyone can create a meme coin and name it whatever they want. Then you can create a potential fake website, host it in China, Russia, etc., and make it look legit.
