Riverdale and The Strangers star Madelaine Petsch has thrown her name into the ring for one of Marvel’s most iconic mutant roles for Kevin Feige’s X-Men reboot coming to the MCU following Avengers: Secret Wars.
Petsch’s Pick for a Marvel Role
Speaking to The Direct at San Diego Comic-Con while promoting The Strangers – Chapter 2, Petsch said the hero she’d most like to play is Jean Grey:
“Jean Grey, obviously. Hello,” Petsch said. “I’ve not seen many Marvel films. ‘Many’ is an operative term for zero, but I have been seeing some fan casts for Jean Grey, and I’ve done my research, and that seems like it’d be really fun.”
Other Rumored Jean Grey Casting Options
Rumors about Marvel’s casting for Jean Grey have been circulating for months. Names that have popped up include Elle Fanning and Daisy Edgar-Jones as possible picks.
One of the most persistent rumors has been Sadie Sink, who is starring in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as rumors still claim she could be playing Jean Grey.

Where Marvel’s X-Men Reboot Stands
Kevin Feige recently confirmed Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier is helming the X-Men reboot, with a script in progress by Michael Lesslie.
Variety reports Marvel is looking for younger, lesser-known talent to keep costs down, which could make Petsch’s name — and other TV or indie actors — more viable contenders.
