Star Wars: ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Featuring Jabba the Hutt’s Son

First we got Baby Yoda, now it’s Jabba the Hutt’s son.

It’s learned that Jon Favreau will be featuring Rotta the Hutt in The Mandalorian & Grogu which recently wrapped filming.

The news comes with it learned that Jeremy Allen White will be voicing the character, with the actor known for the breakout series, The Bear. It’s reported it’s a notably sized role and is not a cameo.

Last we heard of Jabba the Hutt was in The Book of Boba Fett where it was learned that following the death of Jabba in Return of the Jedi, it left a power vacuum on Tatooine. The series saw two of Jabba’s cousins make a play for power, but they were defeated by Boba Fett and Fennec Shand. Boba Fett then ascended to power and took Jabba’s place as the crime lord of Tatooine.

While Variety thinks it could mean that Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen could be showing up inThe Mandalorian & Grogu, Morrison has said he hasn’t heard anything and isn’t appearing in the film.

No plot details are known about The Mandalorian & Grogu. Season 3 ended with the Mandalorians defeating Moff Gideon’s forces, Bo-Katan being given the Dark Saber, and Mando officially adopting Grogu as his apprentice.

The Mandalorian & Grogu gets released on May 22, 2026 starring Pedro Pascal, with Sigourney Weaver also having joined the cast.

Who is Rotta The Hut?

Rotta The Hut first appeared in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

Via Star Wars.com: Heir apparent to the Hutt empire, Jabba’s infant son was barely old enough to slither before his conniving and power-hungry great-uncle, Ziro, already had him marked for death at the time of the Clone Wars. Ziro arranged for Rotta to be Huttnapped as part of an elaborate scheme to discredit the Jedi Knights and prevent them from entering an alliance with the Hutts.

As The Mandalorian takes place five years after Return of the Jedi, and years after Clone Wars, obviously Rotta The Hut is now all grown up.
