This is pretty funny as it’s going around that an official press release from Sony is teasing Tom Hardy’s Venom for Spider-Man 4.
However, I don’t think that is the case at all.
What I think is really going on is that Sony is using the recent Spider-Man 4 announcement to hype the release of Venom: The Last Dance, along with this “press release.”
The Spider-Man 4 release date happened to be announced the same day Venom: The Last Dance was released. It was no coincidence. The announcements both come from Sony.
What does the Sony press release say?
So someone “spotted” a “press release” from Sony Japan and shilled that it might confirm Tom Hardy as Venom for Spider-Man 4. The other shill sites then ran with it. As did all the connected shill bot accounts on X.
If you actually read the press release (see below), not what the shills are reporting, you see it’s basically just info about both films.
It seems to me as if an intern ran with it and tried to tease Tom Hardy as Venom for Spider-Man 4 (“Is Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie in the ‘Venom’ series, ready to take part?”), but again, I’m betting it was to create fake hype for Venom: The Last Dance which isn’t doing all that well at the box office (read my review here, it’s awful).
This seems be the case as listed at the bottom of the press release is info for both movies (again, both from Sony) and Sony has since deleted the “press release.”
If you want my guess: Venom already left some of the symbiote back in the MCU during the No Way Home post-credit scene. They’ll use that to give Tom Holland the black Spider-Man suit in Avengers: Secret Wars. If we’re lucky, the bozos at Sony who work on Marvel won’t be involved and they’ll let a new Venom loose as part of the MCU. Knull also won’t be a part of the MCU (Venom 3 has bombed). Now go write shill articles and tweets about that.
