‘They Live’ Reboot Rumored With Matt Reeves and Andy Serkis

It’s claimed that Hollywood is rebooting the John Carpenter cult classic They Live movie which starred WWF wrestler Roddy Piper, with Matt Reeves attached as director and Andy Serkis possibly in the starring role.

Matt Reeves is known for his grounded and realistic take on things, as Reeves directed the Planet of the Apes movies and recently The Batman, both starring Serkis.

According to the rumor, the reboot will be titled They Live: The Conspiracy Unveiled and will have a more contemporary feel.

As pointed out, back in 2011, Matt Reeves was actually attached to write and direct an adaptation of the Ray Nelson short story 8 O’Clock in the Morning which was used as the basis for the 1988 John Carpenter film They Live.

So we see that according to this rumor via Giant Freakin Robot, Reeves is going with a They Live reboot.

Update: John Carpenter’s producer wife, Sandy King, confirms the reboot.

“They Live we sleep”: Nobody vs the Illuminati

The 1988 flick was about Roddy Piper as John “Nada” which translates to “nothing” (the film never reveals his real name) exposing an alien presence on Earth through the use of special sunglasses.

Fitting with the new title, amid conspiracy circles, what the 1988 movie is really about is a “Nobody” exposing the elite, the Illuminati.

Similar to how the aliens in the movie are above society and come off as secret, the Illuminati consider themselves above humanity and are responsible for controlling world events through various Secret Societies, the Vatican, the Jesuits, etc.

Also similar to how They Live features words with multiple meanings, the Illuminati use a code called Gematria, said to control things and sacrifice those “by the numbers” who have sold their souls including celebrities, politicians, and sports figures.

Roddy Piper was born in 1954 and the news station in the flick is Station 54. He also died 106 days after his birthday, and “They Live” in Gematria equals 106. (more decodes here and here).

Piper also tweeted the flick was real.

Roddy Piper died in Hollywood, CA on July 31, 2015, at the age of 61.
