They Live Reboot Confirmed By John Carpenter Producer Wife

Last week saw the news of a They Live reboot, and now John Carpenter’s producer wife, Sandy King, has confirmed the flick is happening.

Giant Freakin Robot posted news of the They Live reboot and then Comic Book.com (and in a real douche move claims an “exclusive” and doesn’t reference GFR at all) asked Sandy King about it.

King replied when asked if such a story would be possible today: “That’s a little like watching CNN now, isn’t it? I think that if you stay tuned, you might actually see something before too long.”

When asked if the new movie could mean a new chapter in the narrative could actually be coming, King teased, “There might be.”

Sandy King produced and was involved with the scripts of Carpenter’s movies including the first They Live, Prince Of Darkness, Big Trouble in Little China, and lots more, and is the founder of both Storm King Productions and Storm King Comics.

What is the They Live reboot about?

In GFR’s article, it’s said the reboot will be titled They Live: The Conspiracy Unveiled and will have a more contemporary feel.

It’s also said Matt Reeves will be directing and that Andy Serkis, who Reeves directed in the Planet of the Apes movies and recently The Batman, will have a starring role.

What is They Live about?

They Live was released in 1988 and stars WWF wrestler Roddy Piper as drifter John “Nada” who discovers sunglasses that enable him to see what is really going on in the world.

The world is occupied by aliens who look like humans, but when wearing the sunglasses, the aliens’ true form is revealed.

The aliens are also shown to be controlling the world, where the sunglasses reveal words have subliminal meanings.

The aliens’ message is also being broadcast from Station 54 which Nada sets out to destroy.

The film also features one of the most famous and recognizable lines in all of moviedom: “I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass… And I’m all out of bubblegum.”

It’s a great movie and brings up themes of how the elite control the world and what it takes to stop them.

Before his death, Roddy Piper tweeted the flick is a documentary.
