Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, recently shared an mage of himself as Iron Man on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), captioned “Irony Man.”
He added, “I will use the power of irony to defeat villains! ‘Oh you call yourself “The Joker”, then why can’t you tell a joke! How ironic …’”
In a follow-up post, Musk noted, “But one is Marvel and the other is DC. Oh no, not more irony.”

Who are Elon Musk’s villains?
The image and tweets align with Musk’s history of embracing the Iron Man persona. He made a cameo appearance in Marvel’s Iron Man 2, where he briefly interacts with Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr.
Musk’s innovative ventures and charismatic public image have often drawn comparisons to Stark, the fictional tech billionaire and superhero in the MCU.
Beyond the jest, Musk’s reference to “defeating villains” also points to his recent political engagements and support of Donald Trump. Following Donald Trump’s landslide victory in the 2024 presidential election, Musk was appointed to co-lead the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. This advisory body aims to streamline federal operations and reduce bureaucratic inefficiencies.
Musk’s role in DOGE shows he’s using his business skills to help improve the government. His “Irony Man” posts are a nod to his role in challenging governmental inefficiencies, which he perceive as the “villains.” Musk has also tweeted against the woke mind virus on more than one occasion.

Regarding the Joker, In September 2024, Musk criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom for signing a law banning deceptive political AI videos, stating, “The Joker is in charge.”
