Donald J. Trump Wins 2024 Presidential Election In ‘Landslide’ Victory

Donald J. Trump will regain the White House in January following a landslide victory last night over Kamala Harris, becoming the 47th president of the United States.

Trump secured 292 electoral votes to Harris’s 226. He also is on track to win the popular vote, currently with 71,962,206 votes to Harris’s 67,137,366 (source: Fox News).

Donald Trump is also the first president since Grover Cleveland to serve non-consecutive terms. Interestingly, Trump was initially announced the winner with 277 electoral votes—the same number Cleveland secured to win his second term.

In his victory speech in Florida, Trump thanked his supporters, including the incoming Vice President, JD Vance, as well as Elon Musk and Dana White.

“This was a movement like nobody’s ever seen before. And frankly this was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time. There’s ever been anything like this in this country and maybe beyond,” he said.

Trump also referenced the attempted assassination on July 13, and said they are going to make America great again.

“We’re going to make our country better than it ever has been. And I said that many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason. And that reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness. And now we are going to fulfil that mission,” he said.

While Harris has yet to address her supporters, which is expected later today, it is reported she phoned Trump to concede. It is also reported President Biden phoned both Harris and Trump, and that Biden congratulated Trump on his victory.

“President Biden expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to bring the country together. He also invited President-elect Trump to meet with him in the White House. The staff will coordinate a specific date in the near future,” states Fox News.

Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as 47th president of the United States on Inauguration Day 2025, January 20.
