James Gunn Hypes Superman Day: New Trailer Coming?

James Gunn confirms and teases his involvement in Superman Day, which could hint at the next big trailer dropping next week.

Update: Gunn responds to a fan hinting no new trailer on Friday.

When is Superman Day?

Superman Day takes place next week on Friday, April 18, 2025. Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood has already announced plans to celebrate, which includes a one-day Superman-themed tour across its 110-acre backlot.

Now DCU co-head, writer, and director James Gunn confirms involvement in Superman Day on social media, along with Jim Lee, President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics.

“Jim Lee and I saw the original Superman in the same theater where we grew up in St Louis. Share your #Superman story in the comments and join us in celebrating #SupermanDay on April 18th (and grab your S-Shield tee at DC Shop!),” posted Gunn.

Trailer release

It’s unknown when the next Superman trailer will be released, but on or around April 18th seems likely.

Marketing for the film recently kicked off in April in a big way with the release of the 5-minute extended preview and appearance at CinemaCon (watch below).

Tomorrow, Friday, actually marks three months until Superman‘s release, and April 18th is a week away, marking less than three months until the release of the film. It’s safe to say there will be some sort of promotion for the film.

Release info

James Gunn’s Superman gets released on July 11th in the U.S. and first on July 9 internationally. Starring includes David Corenswet as Clark Kent and the new Man of Steel, with Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
