Man of Tomorrow Starts Filming as James Gunn Shares First Set Photo

Man of Tomorrow is officially now filming.

James Gunn confirmed production is underway by posting, “From the set of #ManofTomorrow. Shooting now.”

The first image shared from the set doesn’t reveal Superman, but it does offer a clear clue about what Gunn is working on.

The photo shows a chessboard set up on a table next to an inmate ID badge for “Luthor, A” from the VanKull Department of Corrections, which appears to point to Lex Luthor being locked up.

James Gunn teases Lex Luthor angle

The set photo looks like Gunn is teasing a prison scene involving Lex. The chessboard also fits the kind of calculated and strategic imagery usually tied to the character.

Nicholas Hoult returns as Lex Luthor in Man of Tomorrow, which is confirmed to feature Superman and Lex joining forces against Brainiac. The set photo suggests Lex could start out imprisoned before becoming part of that larger fight.

Filming now underway

Fans recently learned that filming on Man of Tomorrow was expected to begin this week, and Gunn has now made it official.

That means DC Studios is moving ahead with the next chapter following Superman. While plot details remain under wraps, Gunn clearly wanted fans to know the cameras are rolling.
